History of the Craw Farm

Hattie Craw
The 1840 farmhouse was first owned by Daniel and Polly Widener. Hattie Craw, our great-grandmother, purchased the home along with 147 acres of land. A force to be reckoned with, Hattie helped run the dairy farm. After her passing, the farm was passed down to her son, Seldon, and eventually, Seldon and his son, William, owned it.

In the early 1970s, the Craw family was a victim of arson and lost the barns in the fire. The farm transformed from a dairy farm to a crop farm that produced corn, wheat, straw, and hay.

William's children, Ruth and Jim, now own the house. No longer an active farm, it is being renovated and transformed into a self-hosting crafting retreat (Just A Stitch Away) and the home of Happy Sheep Creations.

Ruth and Jim hope their family's home is filled with creativity, inspiration, and fellowship.
